Since Laramie is “unswimable” for the majority of the year, it’s good that there are three indoor pools in town. (With a population of 30,000, that is 10,000 per pool. Not too bad, right?). While each of the pools can be used for swimming, they each meet different needs: lap swimming, children’s swimming, water aerobics, and (believe it or not) kayaking. So if you are looking to get a taste of summer in the middle of winter, I recommend heading one of Laramie’s indoor pools.

    Corbett Pool

Corbett Pool is an Olympic sized pool that is used by the University of Wyoming swim team. However, it also has times for public use. This pool is great for more intense lap swimmers, as it is silighty more cool. Corbett Pool also offers drop in kayaking sessions, where you can bring your kayak to the pool and practice your barrel rolls.

    Laramie Recreation Center

The Laramie Recreation Center is the place to take the family. With water slides, a lazy river, and a playground, it is where all the kids want to go (and have their birthday). However, it also has a lap pool for adults and a hot tub. Once a month, the Laramie Recreation center puts up the “iceberg” which is a large floatable that children can climb and slide down. Climbing the iceberg can be challenging, so it’s recommended for older children. Check the online schedule to see when the iceberg will be up next!
