Behind two goals and two assists from senior Andrew Barnes, the Laramie Plainsmen shutout the Kelly Walsh Trojans 6-0 Tuesday in Laramie.

Barnes scored twice in the first half to put Laramie in front for good. He added a pair of assists on two of the four Plainsmen goals in the second half.

The senior admitted it felt good to get going offensively, even if it was a forward.

"To be up there, playing a new position, it was interesting, I guess. It was weird for me to not play defense a lot, but playing just forward was good and allowed me to connect with other people (teammates)."

The first goal came in the 13th minute off an assist on a flip throw-in from Eric Gunderson. Barnes second tally was unassisted in the 29th minute.

Plainsmen head coach Andy Pannell said, "I thought Barnes played in a more confident fashion than we've seen him play all year. He seems to be excited about this new role... He set the table for guys left and right; scored a couple himself; got us going."

Laramie (5-2-1) found the net four times in the final half. Goals came from Blake Moore, Alexis Eleuterio, Sergio Gardea and Lucas Thorsness.

The Plainsmen return to action in 4A East Conference play Friday at Gillette.
