San Diego State shot 50 percent from 3-point range and beat Wyoming for the 11th straight time at Viejas Arena, 84-54, Tuesday night.

The Aztecs jumped out to a 12-2 lead, as they made four of their first five shots from the field. Two of those were three-pointers by Matt Mitchell. The Cowboys never got within single digits the rest of the game.

San Diego State (9-6, 1-1) built their advantage to 30-14 with about seven minutes left in the half. The Aztecs led 48-25 at the break. They shot 60 percent, 9-of-15, from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

The lead nearly reached 30 before UW went on a 13-3 run and pulled within 60-41. That was with 12 minutes remaining, as the Pokes held San Diego State scoreless for almost three minutes. Wyoming then went cold and failed to score for over five minutes, as the Aztecs pulled away.

Jalen McDaniels led San Diego State with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell added 20 points. The Aztecs shot 51 percent in the game and made 12 three-pointers.

Wyoming (4-12, 0-3) was led by Justin James with 18 points. He also had six rebounds and three assists. Hunter Thompson added 11 points and Trevon Taylor finished with 10 points. They shot 35 percent from the field Tuesday night.

The Cowboys haven’t won at San Diego State since Jan. 3, 2007, 66-65.

UW returns home Saturday to host Utah State. That game starts at 4 p.m. from the Arena-Auditorium.
