Cowboy Basketball Gains Alabama Transfer
Charles Hankerson, Jr. is becoming a Cowboy. He will transfer to the University of Wyoming from the University of Alabama with two years of eligibility remaining after he sits out the 2012-13 season. Cowboy basketball coach Larry Shyatt made the announcement Monday.
Driver Who Injured Wyoming Student in Crosswalk Pleads Not Guilty
The driver who crashed into a University of Wyoming student standing in a crosswalk pleaded not guilty to all three charges against him on Tuesday. Timothy R. Lund, a 21-year-old Wyotech student, is charged with driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, aggravated assault and misdemeanor wreckless driving.
Lady Plainsmen Celebrate State Championship [AUDIO]
The 2012 State Champion Laramie Lady Plainsmen Basketball team gathered together one last time on Tuesday night for their team banquet. There were awards, goodbye tears and lasagna made by Head Coach Rod Tyson himself as the first state title in Lady Plainsmen history was remembered.
Cowboys Earn Home Game in College Basketball Invitational
It may not be the postseason berth Cowboy fans were hoping for, but accepting the invitation to the College Basketball Invitational does mean the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team will play at least one more game in the Arena-Auditorium. UW will face North Dakota State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Laramie.
Laramie Lady Plainsmen Win State Championship
The Laramie Lady Plainsmen took down an undefeated team from Natrona County, 38-35, to win the Wyoming Class 4A State Basketball Championship on Saturday at the Casper Events Center. It’s the first state championship in basketball for the Lady Plainsmen program.
Second Half Effort Falls Short, Cowboys Lose to UNLV
The Wyoming Cowboys were unable to recover from their worst first half of the season and lost to the UNLV Rebels 58-46 in a quarterfinal game of the 2012 Conoco Mountain West Men’s Basketball Championships on Thursday. Mike Moser scored points for UNLV as they pestered Wyoming throughout the first half, allowing hardly any uncontested shots. As a result, the Cowboys struggled from the field, making only three buckets in the first half on their way to just 11 points, which is the lowest in the history of the MW tournament.
Laramie Plainsmen Season Ends at Regionals
The season came to a close for the Laramie Plainsmen basketball team with an overtime loss to the Cheyenne Central Indians, 26-25, at the 4A East Regional Tournament in Cheyenne on Thursday night.
Ted Holmstrom Hired as Laramie Plainsmen Football Coach
Ted Holmstrom has confirmed to KOWB that he is the new Head Football Coach at Laramie High School. He replaces Bob Knapton, who resigned in December.
D.A.R.E. Program Dropped in Albany County Schools
The D.A.R.E. program will end in all Albany County schools at the conclusion of the current school year according to the Laramie Police Department. In a release the LPD says the termination of the program will allow an additional School Resource Officer to be assigned in the schools.
Man Arrested After Crashing Into Wyoming Student
An arrest has been made in the vehicle/pedestrian crash that hospitalized a University of Wyoming student. A 21 year old WyoTech student, Timothy Lund, was arrested on suspicion of DUI with serious bodily injury according to the Laramie Police Department.
