Albany County Under Fire Ban
A fire ban is in effect for Albany County until further notice. The county commissioners made the decision to restrict open fires and fireworks because of the extreme danger of fire and the excessive amount of flammable materials.
Wyoming National Guard to Help Fight High Park Fire
A Wyoming National Guard UW-60 Black Hawk helicopter and a team of four Wyoming National Guard troops will work to fight the High Park Fire in northern Colorado. They are being sent by Governor Matt Mead, who the Governor’s Office says received a request for their use from the State of Colorado.

Laramie High School graduated 229 seniors during the commencement ceremony on Friday at the Arena Auditorium. After receiving their diplomas, the senior headed over to celebrate at Project Graduation.
Kari Campbell Named Outstanding Athlete at Laramie High School
Laramie High School senior Kari Campbell was awarded Female Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Athlete at the Laramie Quarterback Club Spring Senior Honor Banquet on Wednesday night. The honors come with $1,500 in Gene Benson Memorial Scholarship money presented by Pepsi. Tate Hilgenkamp was named Male Athlete of the Year, a scholarship reward of $500.

It was quite the weekend of rites of passage in Laramie. Not only was the University of Wyoming holding spring commencement ceremonies, but it was also prom weekend for Laramie High School. The junior class chose the theme “Emerald City” for the event, held at the Hilton Garden Inn.
University of Wyoming Graduating Nearly 1,800 This Spring
The University of Wyoming is set to hand out almost 1,800 degrees during their spring commencement ceremonies. Helping to ring in the occasion will be Wyoming first lady Carol Mead and NBC news correspondent Pete Williams, who will be among speakers during the ceremonies.

Shyatt Completes 2012 Recruiting Class for Cowboy Basketball
Cowboy basketball coach Larry Shyatt finished off the 2012-13 recruiting class on Wednesday when Derek Cooke signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Wyoming. The 6’9″ forward will transfer to UW from Cloud County Community College and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
