The Question:

Why doesn't the city make a better effort to light back roads?

The Answer:
“There are a few reasons why the City doesn’t have more lighting in the local street areas of town; 1) cost – both the initial capital cost and the ongoing power and maintenance costs, and 2) there hasn’t been much demand for street lighting in neighborhoods, and 3) not everyone wants extensive lighting in neighborhoods. There is the need to strike a balance between residents who want the lighting and often residents that may not want lighting shining into their windows etc.”
