Ask The City: Stop Signs

The Question:

Why are Laramie stop signs and many other street signs posted on wooden posts and not on metal posts (as are the norm in other cities)?

“The Public Works Street Division considers several factors in deciding the best type of posts for sign installation. Cost is a one factor, however, the wooden posts appear to be more durable with a larger sign, especially with the wind in our area.”
