The Question:

Why does the rec center decide to perform maintenance and close the pool so early? Kids are still out of school and now they can't use the facility. In the future, could this be pushed back to coincide with back-to-school season?

The Answer:

“The daily admission counts for the Recreation Center are at their lowest during August as many of our patrons are working out outside while the weather is pleasant. The first week of August was chosen because of the low attendance and the fact that summer clubs and swim lessons are not underway that week. We keep the outdoor pool open during down week to accommodate our patrons desire to swim. The outdoor pool closes when school starts so if we waited until that date for down week there would be no pools available for swimming.”
