Ask The City – Is it Legal to Shovel Snow into an Alley?

Is it legal to shovel snow into the alley? I know I have seen that you aren't supposed to put it in the street. In another part of town, I have seen where someone shoveled their huge driveway and all of the snow was shoveled into the alley.

The City's Response:

From Laramie Municipal Code 12.08.010 Snow, Ice and Debris – Deposit upon right-of-way.

No person shall cause or permit snow, ice, or other debris to be deposited upon a public right-of-way.  Any such deposit shall be prima facie evidence that it was so placed by the owner, occupant or manager of the adjacent tenements or grounds.

To report an incident, a call should be place to City’s Police Dispatch at 721-2526.
