Ask The City – Can Traffic Signals Stop Flashing Earlier in the Mornings?

There Seems to be an increase in early morning traffic (5am-6am). Are there any plans to have the traffic signals start working at an earlier time such as 5am?

The City's Answer:

The City would look at suggested intersections regarding higher traffic counts if specified.  Generally with less traffic as in the early morning hours, the flashing lights should require less time be spent stopped at a light since as soon as any cross street traffic clears, one can proceed through a flashing red.  If it is flashing yellow, one only needs to slow down.  If there are specific areas of concern, please contact the Public Works Department with that information.  The contact number is 721-5385.
