Several public programs will be held in conjunction with the new exhibition, “Stocked: Contemporary Art from the Grocery Aisles,” now on view at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

A faculty response panel will be held Monday, March 24, at 7 p.m. Panelists are Erin Anderson (American Studies), John Dorst (American studies), Kent Drummond (management and marketing), Peter Fine (visual arts) and Isa Helfgott (history).

A food drive to support Interfaith-Good Samaritan is set for Monday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at the Art Museum. Visitors who bring nonperishable food items each will receive a raffle ticket and be entered to win one of two raffle items. Items have been donated by the University Store and the Brown and Gold Outlet. Several UW registered student organizations will participate in a grocery-bagging competition.

Exhibition curator Emily Stamey will present a public art talk Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in Room 111 of the Visual Arts Building; and will present a gallery walk-through of the exhibition Friday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 11, 6-8 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

“Stocked: Contemporary Art from the Grocery Aisles” presents the work of contemporary artists who take the grocery store and consumption of its products as their subjects. The exhibition will be on view through May 31.

Wichita State University’s Ulrich Museum of Art organized the exhibition, which is curated by Stamey. The exhibition is supported by the Lois Kay Walls Foundation Trust, Spirit Aerosystems and Delta Dental. Additional sponsors include Louise Beren, John and Nancy Brammer, Norma Greever, Richard D. Smith and Sondra M. Langel, and Keith and Georgia Stevens.

The UW exhibition is funded, in part, by UW Art Museum Gala funds and the Wyoming Arts Council through the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
