Art Museum Exhibits Changing

The final day to view the University of Wyoming Art Museum exhibition “New Acquisitions: UW Art Museum Collection” is Saturday, Aug. 23.

On view for the first time, these works represent the museum’s goal to create a comprehensive and significant collection for teaching, research and exhibition.

“The UW Art Museum acquires objects for its collection through donations and purchases, with each object being carefully considered based on existing areas of strength and relevance, and within the context of supporting the University of Wyoming’s academic and cultural missions,” says Wendy Bredehoft, the museum’s curator for education. “As a result, the Art Museum is able to add significant artwork that ranges from the important art historical work of Francis Bacon and Andy Warhol, to contemporary artists such as Bernar Venet and Betty Hahn.”

Through its Museum as Classroom approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. The museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday hours are extended to 9 p.m. February through April and September through November. Admission is free.
