The Laramie "Super Bowl Shooter" pleaded not guilty in court today, many weeks after he allegedly shot his roommate in a wrestling match. Nicholas Perez was charged with aggravated assault and battery, as well as possession of a deadly weapon for the incident on Super Bowl Sunday.

Prosecutors say Perez came home from a bar, intoxicated and irate, after the game because of the Broncos' loss. He engaged in a friendly wrestling match with Sayer Smith, one of his three roommates.

Police officials stated that at some point during the wrestling, Perez retrieved a gun and pointed it at Smith’s head. Their roommate, Devon Searle, grabbed Perez’s arm and moved the gun. While trying to wrestle it from Perez, Searle was shot in the palm of his hand.

Perez has a continued $50,000 signature bond and a jury trial scheduled from August 13-15.
