Albany County Attorney Peggy Trent Seeks Re-election

Albany County Attorney Peggy Trent is running for re-election.

Trent said in a statement that she is excited to run for a second term and is proud of the accomplishments of the collaborative efforts between her office and partners in the community.

If elected, Trent said she wants to continue to enhance those partnerships and work on new initiatives such as how the county addresses the mentally ill without criminalization, the growing substance abuse problems among juveniles and families and criminal issues facing Albany County’s aging and vulnerable population.

“Four years ago, I promised a new direction for how we prosecute juveniles in Albany County and promised to employ a collaborative approach to prosecution with law enforcement, community organizations, and victims of crime,” Trent said in a statement. “I have fulfilled those promises and have shown the ability to be a team leader to effectively address critical issues in both civil and criminal matters facing our community. Still, there is more work to do and we have exciting challenges ahead.”

Trent said she looks forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Albany County. Trent is running against Republican challenger Tony Lopez.
