Shocktoberfest will bring local musicians together to open up for a well-recognized national performer.

Afroman is scheduled to return to Laramie for the first Funky Circus at Shocktoberfest -- Laramie's first German biergarten. The performance is set for April 30 at 9 p.m.

Shocktoberfest owner Jason Palumbo says The Funky Circus is designed to give local funk, hip-hop and R&B performers a chance to perform on the same stage as a big name.

"The whole goal of The Funky Circus is to bring in as high-end of a star as we can three times a year," Palumbo says.

Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, saw his 2001 album 'The Good Times' peak at No. 10 on the U.S. charts before it was certified gold. His song 'Because I Got High' was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance in 2002.
