Daoud Yaqub, a key participant in Afghanistan’s unfolding history and recent political transitions, will speak at Northwest College and the University of Wyoming in October.

Yaqub, the former executive director of the Afghanistan Foundation, speaks Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building at Northwest College and at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the UW Education Building auditorium.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and current Ph.D. candidate at Durham University in the United Kingdom, Yaqub held numerous posts in the Afghanistan government. He played a significant role in building the Afghan National Security Council into a major security and policy organization of the Afghan government.

Yaqub’s lecture is part of the statewide Global and International Studies Lecture Series and World to Wyoming Initiative. It is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language grant to UW’s Global and Area Studies Program in partnership with Wyoming’s seven community colleges.

The UW International Global and Area Studies Program, and the Wyoming Humanities Council sponsor the lecture series.
