The Laramie Area Visitor Center's 6th Annual Photo Contest is in full swing! Everyone is invited to submit as many photos taken in Albany County in the last two years (from 2010 to 2012)  as they so choose! An exciting addition to the annual contest is the opportunity to win "Overall Best Photo," a $200 prize! First through third place in each category guarantees a $125, $100, $75 prize, respectively. All prize-winning photos have the possibility of being in many of the Albany County Tourism Board's publications including the Visitor Guide and advertisements distributed nationally AND internationally!

Entries will be judged by a local panel and ten finalists in each category will be displayed at local banks where the citizens of Albany County will be encouraged to vote for their favorite photo. The photos will be in the downtown businesses from April 17th through May 4th, 2012. These voting results will then be used as part of the formula to select the three winning entries in each category! The winning photos will be announced and displayed at the Business After Hours event at the Hilton Garden Inn of Laramie, sponsored jointly by the Albany County Tourism Board, May 10th, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

As stated above, acceptable entries must be original photographs taken in Albany County in the last two years (from 2010 to 2012). Entries will be judged in the following four categories that represent the spirit and people of Albany County:

1. Scenic/Landscape

2. Outdoor Activities (skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing,

snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, biking,  climbing, etc.),

3. Buildings, Museums, and Landmarks

4. OPEN Category (events and any photos that don't fit into one of the other three categories)

One important side-note to those entering photos in the Scenic/Landscape category: Lake Marie and Medicine Bow Peak are in Carbon County, but very spectacular from the Albany County side, so photographs taken of either of these from the Albany County Side will be accepted.
