Two Renton, Washington residents are behind bars after Wyoming troopers discovered 114 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.

Sgt. Kyle McKay says 39-year-old Ngoc Pham and her passenger, 45-year-old Hung Nguyen, were headed east on Interstate 80 around 1:45 p.m. Saturday when they stopped at a road closure gate just east of Cheyenne.

"Pham asked for directions on how to get around the road closure in order to continue to her destination and told troopers that she was heading to Charlotte, North Dakota, but then changed her destination to Charlotte, North Carolina," said McKay.

"Troopers also noticed an odor coming from her vehicle that smelled like marijuana," McKay added. "They saw a blanket covering several large suitcases on the rear seat."

Troopers searched the vehicle and found 108 packages of marijuana with an estimated street value of $285,000. They also found evidence in Pham's backpack which indicated a large money laundering enterprise.

Pham and Nyugen were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The two are currently being held in the Laramie County jail on $10,000 cash bonds. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for April 27 at 10 a.m.
