General Robin Rand announced on Friday the suspension of 14 airmen at F.E. Warren Air Force Base as part of a probe of alleged illegal drug use, according to Stars And Stripes, a military newspaper owned by the Department of Defense.

General Rand is head of the Air Force's Global Strike Command.

The suspended airmen are members of the 90th Security Forces Group at the base. The allegations involve off duty "drug activity" but Rand offered up few specifics other than to say the allegations were "credible," according to the article.

He did say the allegations had no "operational impact" on either the base or the nation's nuclear force as a whole.

Rand gave no timetable for the on-going investigation to wrap up.
